Services
Young Audience Program

For over 15 years, Performing Arts NB has provided blockbooking services to its member young audience presenters, helping to bring quality, affordable live performances in music, dance & theatre to communities throughout NB. Currently, our young audience presenters are as follows: Carousel Theatre in Bathurst, The Peanut Gallery in Campbellton/ Dalhousie, Funstage in Woodstock and Kidstuff Theatre in Sussex. Occasionally, the Capitol Theatre in Moncton joins this group. Each presenter pays an annual PANB membership fee.

Each year, PANB prepares a preliminary list of performance possibilities for the upcoming touring season. Our presenters receive information on available performances in February. From there, PANB provides complete blockbooking services, including coordination of these selections, negotiating with the artist/agent for the best possible performance price, preparing the contracts, tour routing, coordination of promotional materials, and any follow-up details including technical requirements and performance evaluations upon completion of each tour. For this service, PANB charges a booking coordination fee of 10%.

Past performances have included: Dufflebag Theatre (Toronto), the Maritime Marionettes (Truro), Al Simmons (Winnipeg), Ballet Jorgen (Toronto), and I Tromboni (Vancouver), to name just a few! For the current season, we are featuring Donna & Andy (New Minas, NS) and Foothills Brass (Calgary).  In addition, we are booking many quality performers from NB and across Canada into local schools through our PACS Program.

A Young Audience Series may be as few as one performance per season or as many as four or five. Pricing for young audience shows varies, but in general, we’ve managed to hold the line at approx. $1500 per performance. If an organization wished to present performances of this caliber on their own, i.e. not as part of a larger NB tour, not only is it difficult to entice performers to travel to NB to present one show but the performance fees would likely be quite expensive. Usually, accommodations are included as part of the offer PANB negotiates to the performers on behalf of the presenters. Local hotels, inns, etc., often sponsor these accommodations. Sponsorship may also be sought for things such as printing tickets, programs, publicity, etc.

If your organization would like to be part of this exciting circuit of NB young audience presenters either now or for future tours, please contact the PANB office.
